Something In Her Heart [OG 1980's recording]

from Almost Night by The Palisades

/

about

Danny’s ultra cool snaky bass comes to the fore in the verses, giving it a reggae-like feel against JD’s guitar stabs, and Larry’s rather unusual drum pattern, until they come together on the big open chord rock chorus.

The flanger effect on the voice gives the song a bit of an eerie feel, and I guess the whispered vocal on the chorus was meant to convey the same.

lyrics

A painted picture hangs from the wall

Slightly tilted it will never fall

She touches her hair and heads out the door

Somewhat confused to what she's living for

He tosses and he turns

Finds his way into his car

Work is a way to keep his visions alive

Though he knows he'll never go that far

There is something in her heart

Reflected through her eyes

Each time that she looks at me

Look at me

She'll be married on a Sunday afternoon

And back to work before it's to soon

They'll lead a happy life with a family

She'll try to dismiss these feelings I see
