Disappear Away [OG 1980's recording]

from Almost Night by The Palisades

/

about

‘Disappear Away’ is our second song from the April 1982 Opus session. It was Larry who came up with the inventive Keith Moon-like drum flurries that open the song, and reoccur during the breaks, and both Danny and Larry are surprisingly steady and together for all three of our April ’82 songs. JD holds the fort admirably (though again we’re missing the Fender spring reverb) and plays one of his finest melodic leads, while Bill adds a tambourine.

lyrics

It's been the same story since I was young

Somebody telling me to walk and when to run

But you can tell them today

It doesn't matter what they say

I couldn't take it another day

I had no choice but to disappear away

Romeo I am not

Diamonds and money I haven't got

But if love comes that way

I'd just as soon disappear away

Disappear away

Forgotten cars and fast guitars

Is the life that I lead

But you insist that what I do

Is a see through vision empty and blue

But I know that in my soul

The way I've come is the way to go

And if it was any other way

I'd just as soon disappear away

No one sounded like the Palisades in 1982 and 1983. The music they wrote and performed was the music of being young – a celebration of youth.
It was a magical time in a magical place…come on in
